Myles Hayden is the Kantor at Grace Lutheran where he leads congregational singing, co-directs the Chancel Choir with Jennifer Tippett, leads the men’s chorus, teaches and directs all instrumental ensembles for the church and school, and serves as the principal organist. Myles earned his Bachelor of Music at Valparaiso University in Church Music under the tutelage of Dr. Lorraine Brugh. As a recipient of the Signature Artist Scholarship at Valpo, he was the student music coordinator for the Chapel of the Resurrection. Myles also earned his Master of Sacred Music, Organ Concentration, from the Sacred Music Program at the University of Notre Dame, studying under Dr. Craig Cramer. At Notre Dame, he worked as an organist for the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and served as a graduate assistant for the renowned Notre Dame Liturgical Choir. He also remains an active recitalist, having done concerts in the Chicagoland area and Florida. He loves to perform music from the early Lutheran Church including works by J.S. Bach, Matthias Weckmann, Samuel Scheidt, and Dietrich Buxtehude.
