About Grace Lutheran Church & School
Our Beginning
From the inception of Grace Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg in 1927, opening a quality grade school was the prayerful and formidable goal. That dream became a reality when Grace Lutheran School (GLS) opened its first classes on August 31, 1956. GLS is an accredited member of the National Lutheran Schools Accreditation and offers preschool, elementary, and middle school students a quality academic education that focuses on the Christian teachings of the Lutheran faith.
Through the Years
GLS has not wavered from its commitment to Christian Education. With God's guiding hand, the saving message of Jesus has reached thousands of scholars and their families year after year.
For over 65 years, our secure campus, on the corner of 16th Street and Haines Road, has been a safe place for students and families. It includes an expansive sanctuary featuring stained glass windows representing our Triune God, a mighty Schlicker organ to lead worship, current, state-of-the-art technology in all classrooms, three playgrounds, and a long-awaited gymnasium.
Well-established traditions like morning flag raising in our courtyard continue to unite our GLS family of Wildcats.
