Meeting and often exceeding local and state standards for education, as well as national standards of the Board of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS), our governing body, Grace Lutheran Church & School is continually improving the requirements to prepare children for church and community leadership. We set educational goals and objectives that can be measured and met with each course using standardized testing as a data tool. Our experienced teaching staff gives each scholar individual attention to find success.
Two standards strongly guide curriculum at Grace Lutheran School (GLS):
At GLS, curriculum focuses on goals and objectives which provide the structure for each content area taught. Textbooks are the best resource we have found, to date, that assist the classroom teacher in achieving the majority of goals/objectives. Outside resources are added to complete and enrich the list of goals and objectives per course. The curriculum is available upon parent/guardian request.
GLS was founded to provide students a daily opportunity to hear and learn about the saving love of Jesus. In this tradition, all students enrolled in GLS participate in religion class. Religion is not an option, but rather a privileged opportunity to hear the Gospel message.
Grace Lutheran School is a vital part of the ministry of Grace Lutheran Church. Our church is one of more than 6,300 congregations that make up the 2.7 million members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Our church body operates the largest system of Protestant parochial schools in the United States: 1,400 early childhood centers; 1,000 elementary schools; and 100 high schools serve a total of almost 300,000 students.
As an accredited school in the Missouri Synod of Lutheran Churches, our weekly schedule includes devotions, Bible study and chapel. Our teaching staff, pastors and deaconesses are committed to giving each child the attention and care needed to foster their educational and spiritual goals. Our school promotes a collaborative approach to education that connects the home, church, and school together in unity. At Grace Lutheran School, each Wildcat is given opportunities to be moved by the Holy Spirit as he or she engages in learning activities that are spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical.
It is our belief that to fully understand academic subjects, one must understand the purpose, origin, and Author of life. This is done through the study and work of Jesus Christ and God's Word, the Holy Bible. Academic excellence is highly valued to set a standard that attempts to reflect Christ, offers children the best, and train the next generation of Christian leaders.
Grace Lutheran EEC, age 2 through Junior Kindergarten, is designed to establish foundations for success in elementary, middle school, and beyond for lifelong learning. Following a traditional school day, curriculum and teaching methods give our youngest Wildcats an extraordinary advantage as they move up.
EEC PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
The Grace Lutheran Early Education curriculum is of the highest educational standards. Preschool classrooms use current educational technology while also keeping a strong connection to a traditional preschool.
Elementary scholars are presented lessons in core subjects, including religion, as well as opportunities for enrichment and remediation, as needed. A gifted program is available for scholars identified as self-motivated, advanced thinkers who are able to work independently. Recess is a daily part of the schedule for elementary students.
Middle school Wildcats follow a block schedule that delivers the core curriculum while also allowing an elective period. Additionally, our middle school scholars have a chance to graduate with up to 5 high school credits.
